Just The Way It Is

I said I wouldn’t apologize.  That was a slight untruth.  I will apologize to a few individuals.

First, I apologize to my uncle, Glenn Braddock.  You have been more than just my trainer.  You inspired me to keep going in this industry.  You inspired me not to give up so easily.  What I have to say will no doubt be a disappointment for you.  I apologize.

To my agent, Dr. Henry Van Stanton, you busted your bloody ass trying to get me opportunities and chances in this industry.  Now for me to say this, to say what I am about to say, you will be disappointed as well.  I apologize.

To my sister, Gloria Marie Noel, better known to the wrestling world as Glory Braddock, I apologize for saying something that you would never have said in your illustrious career.  Hopefully this won’t taint our good name.

Finally, to my mother, to Aphrodite Noel, I apologize for not living up to the lofty Noel standards.

The fact is that I’ve analyzed the current standings in the Queen of the Ring League.  As much as UWA, Drew Bryant, and David Helms would love to make you think that this is still competitive and that this is still anyone’s ball game, because a competitive tournament sells more tickets, the fact of the matter is that some of are done.

Grace Morningwood is done.  She has two more matches to go and she’d have to win both and everyone else lose in order for her to even TIE for first and that is mathematically impossible.  So Grace, my opponent for next Outbreak, is already mathematically eliminated from the tournament.

Sorry, Gracie…

Gracie is at the bottom of the leader board.  Second from the bottom is me, her opponent for Outbreak as we face off in another match in the Queen of the Ring League.  I have one point from a draw with Selena  Frost and a loss to Siqua.  At the top you have Siqua with four points, from beating me and Grace.  Then in second you have Selena with three points, from a draw with me and a victory over Kathryn Pearson.

Now how does that look for me?  Well let’s see, if Siqua lost her next two matches to Selena Frost and to Kathryn Pearson, she’d finish with four points.  And if Selena Frost beat Siqua but lost to Grace, she’d finish with five points.  And I have two matches left, against Grace next Outbreak and finally against Kathryn Pearson.  If I were to win both I’d add four more points to my total, making for five points.

That is the only scenario in which I can tie for first place.  There is NO scenario in which I can win. So out of all of the possible scenarios and all of the possible outcomes of this tournament, what are the odds that this ONE scenario will take place?

The odds are not good.

I will show up and compete, not because I want to, but because I am contractually obligated to finish this tournament.  And that’s the only reason I’m doing this.

Once again, I apologize to the aforementioned individuals.  You deserved better from me and I let you down.  To the rest of you, I offer no apologies.  This is just the way it is going to be for the duration of the Queen of the Ring League.

Good luck to Grace.  Who knows?  We may end up having the match of the night?
